Head lice can be difficult to get rid of, and some people prefer to use a product which contains an insecticide (also referred to as a pesticide).
There are three types of insecticides available from your pharmacy:
- permethrin (e.g. Lyclear Creme Rinse)
- malathion
- phenothrin
Another type of insecticide is only available on prescription from your GP:
- carbaryl
Lyclear Creme Rinse is part of the Lyclear range of expert solutions, and contains permethrin 1%, an active ingredient clinically proven to clear head lice and their eggs. In some cases, a doctor or pharmacist may recommend a second application, but unlike some overnight products, each one only takes 10 minutes. So it's quick, and it's suitable for asthmatics to use too. However, as Lyclear Creme Rinse is a medicine, you should always read the label and talk to your doctor or pharmacist to make sure that it's the right treatment for your family.
