Preventing head lice

It is important to note that head lice treatments should never be used as a preventive measure; that is, a live moving louse must be found before using them.

One of the major frustrations associated with head lice is that once an infection has been successfully treated, there is no guarantee against re-infection soon after. This is one of the reasons why all members of the family should be checked and treated where necessary on the same day.

One way you can greatly reduce the risk of a new infection taking hold is by wet-combing the hair every few days in order to physically remove any lice that have recently migrated onto the head. Many people are not able to undertake this method of prevention effectively as it is very laborious and time-consuming.

Products containing essential oils that claim to repel head lice have been on the market for many years; however there is no substantial data to support their effectiveness.

Lyclear Repellent contains an active ingredient known as IR3535, which is clinically proven in robust clinical trials to be an effective head lice repellent.
