Head Lice Detection
Head lice treatments should never be used unless you are sure there is a current infestation. This is determined by the presence of a live moving louse. The Lyclear Detector Kit can help you establish whether there is an infestation.
The single most important thing you can do to keep head lice under control is to check your children for head lice EVERY WEEK, and to treat them when necessary.

If you find a head louse on just one child, check all other children and the adults in the household. Detection and treatment for all those affected should be carried out on the same day in order to greatly reduce the risk of re-infestation.
Head lice experts recommend the use of a rigid plastic fine-toothed comb for detection combing. They say these are more effective than metal-toothed combs since the spacing between the teeth is maintained consistently. Metal teeth and poor quality plastic teeth are more likely to bend during use, allowing the very young lice to pass through undetected.
Nit combs are not effective in removing all live eggs since they are laid right next to the scalp, making it difficult to position the teeth of the comb between the egg and the scalp. The empty egg cases (nits) can be removed with a nit comb since they will have moved further from the scalp with the growth of the hair.
